Miss Understood is known worldwide for her mile high wigs, her Technicolor
makeup, and her sparkling personality! Raised in lovely Levittown Long
Island, Miss Understood was the child of a cake decorator. That may explain her
special gift for color and texture. Her drag influences include Nina Hagen,
Jayne Mansfield, Phyllis Diller, and Charles Nelson Riley.
A few years back, Miss Understood founded SCREAMING QUEENS, her own Drag entertainment
company. Aside from providing drag lipsync artists and singers for parties and private
events, SCREAMING QUEENS specializes in using drag to add color to large-scale
theme parties. "I love giving the girls a chance to 'swirl out' in their most
elaborate show costumes".
"I get a kick out of doing drag in unexpected places" she giggles. Screaming
Queens have popped up in Grand Central Station, The Museum of Natural
History, the Metropolitan Opera House, and on a flatbed truck in Times
Square.
