JACKIE BEAT started performing at the tender age of five when she won critical acclaim for her performance as Santa Claus
in a kindergarten play in the suburban hell-hole of Scottsdale, Arizona. Many years later, Jackie moved to Los Angeles where
she quickly became a force to be reckoned with in the underground scene.
Miss Beat proved herself to be a wildly popular and influential L.A. personality. She wrote and performed poetry, appeared in
her self-penned one-woman show Entertain Me!, was featured in group and solo art exhibits, wrote for ground breaking zines like
"Sin Bros." and "Spunk", and wowed audiences in countless nightclubs with her unique vocal stylings (unique in the fact that most
drag queens lip-synched at the time!). She went on to create her own zine, "Carrie: The Magazine That Can Move Things", co-created
the magazines "Sexy!" and "Tom Cruise is a Bottom", and eventually became the editor-in-chief of "Planet Homo". In addition,
Miss Beat created the clubs Candy, 15 Minutes and Groupie. Although her KISS tribute band, KISS My Fat Ass, was initially started
as a joke, it captured the attention of Gene Simmons and achieved cult status with both West Hollywood clones and straight Sunset
Strip hair-metal freaks alike.
In the midst of all this madness, Jackie managed to appear in the feature films Wigstock: The Movie and Grief which was an official
selection at The Sundance Film Festival and won the Audience Award at The San Francisco Gay & Lesbian Film Fest. She also appeared
in the ABC Movie of the Week, Encino Woman, starred in many short films including The Straight Agenda and Scream Teen Scream!
(based on her stage play), co-wrote and co-starred in the pilot of USA Channel's Reel Wild Cinema starring Sandra Bernhard,
and was a series regular on the Playboy Channel's first serial/soap opera Stardust. As if that wasn't enough, Jackie is also an
award-winning porno star! That's right, she has appeared in no less that 8 hardcore adult films as "comic relief" and was honored
with a GVA Award for "Best Non-Sexual Role". She recently completed filming the Joel Schumacher film Flawless with Robert DeNiro,
in addition to the film version of the Off-Off-Broadway smash Charlie, and a pilot for MTV, Asphalt Beach.
Jackie studied improvisational comedy at the famed Second City and co-created the sketch comedy group For Entertainment Purposes Only with
Saturday Night Live alumnus Melanie Hutsell. Her comedy was featured in Comedy Central's OUT in Hollywood. Jackie was a regular performer
in Character Assassination with the likes of Margaret Cho, Terry Sweeney and Nora Dunn. She also guest-starred in Uncabaret with
Bobcat Goldthwait, Julia Sweeney and others.
Miss Beat has appeared in many theatrical productions including a special one-night-only mounting of Auntie Mame with Charles Busch,
St. Elmo's Phire (she put the ham in Mare Winningham!), and Valley of the Dolls which eventually went to New York for a successful run
Off-Broadway.
Once in New York, Jackie became one of the hottest drag performers in the city. Like the song says, "If you can make it there, you can
make it anywhere" and Jackie made it! Before she knew it, she was stunning crowds at Squeezebox, Lips, Lucky Cheng's, Foxy, BAR d'O, Life,
Cream, Hustler, Club Casanova, Trailer Park, Studio Filthy Whore, Barracuda, Blu, Starlight, King, Coney Island High, Champs, Jackie 60,
The Cock, Cake, Stonewall, Pyramid and more. During all this she became Assistant Editor for NEXT Magazine and co-created the clubs
Make-Out Mondays and Movie of the Week. She jet-setted to Berlin where her film Scream Teen Scream! was a huge hit at the Berlin Film
Festival. In addition to her role as Helen Lawson in Valley of the Dolls, Jackie also appeared in The Bad Weed '73, Double Wide Female, Dragon's Dream
and the Off-Broadway hit and Drama Desk Award-winning Tell-Tale.
Jackie Beat is A Whole Lotta' Love ran a record 18 months at NYC's Fez and her standing room only Christmas show, Jesus Christ, It's Your
Birthday!, proudly made the esteemed list of the Catholic League for Religious & Civil Rights 1998 Report on Anti-Catholicism.
Jackie was also recently starred in a series of commercials for MTV as a "Betty Crocker on acid" housewife. She is currently in
pre-production for the feature film she co-wrote, Hell On Wheels, about roller derby bitches circa 1982. Jackie sings in the rock band
World Dominatrix (with Alexis Arquette, Misstress Formika and Psychotica's Pat Briggs) and their debut CD, Sell it 'til it Stinks, will be
released on Atomic Pop Records in the winter of 1999.
Jackie has written for HX, Interview, Time Out New York and other magazines.
