Candis Cayne burst onstage in the mid-Nineties with a high kick at Matthew Kasten's Boy Bar-
The East Village weekly where high production values met tight choreography
in a winning formula. The leggy, Hawaii-born Cayne rose quickly through the ranks, and soon
was enjoying Star Status, helped by her years of dance training and sex kitten presence (Then
as now, she is most often compared to Ann-Margret.)
One of the hardest-working performers we know, Candis has staged ever more complex production
numbers at Wigstock and other large-scale gay festivals, often involving dozens of background dancers
and weeks of rehearsal. (In fact, Candis' Broadway-caliber productions are often cited as the reason that virtually all Wigstock
performers do elaborate numbers now -they are simply afraid NOT to!) She's also choreographed "Too Wong Foo" and "Stonewall",
and has appeared in television commercials, fashion shows, off-off Broadway theatricals, and print advertising.
